The agreement, in plain sentences.

1. This agreement

These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and DevitAll LLC ("we", "us"), the developer of With Him, covering the With Him iPhone app and everything in it. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, do not install it — and if you have already, deleting it ends the agreement.

This document is also the end-user licence agreement that the App Store requires. Where it is silent, Apple's standard licence terms apply.

2. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use one copy of the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. The app is licensed, not sold.

You may not copy, sell, rent, sub-licence, decompile, or reverse-engineer the app, except where that restriction is unenforceable where you live.

3. What is free

The Bible reader is free and stays free. The complete offline text, search, cross-references, highlights, notes and bookmarks are not behind the subscription and are not scheduled to be. Scripture is not a feature to be metered, and we will not begin metering it.

4. The subscription

The subscription — With Him Plus — buys the two mechanics that surround the reading rather than the reading itself:

• The Voice-Dismissed Alarm, which ends when a verse has been read aloud rather than when a button is tapped.
• The Focus Shield, which interrupts a long scroll with the same short reading.

It is offered as a monthly and an annual plan. Where a free trial is offered, its length is stated on the purchase screen before you commit, and it applies once per Apple ID and per subscription group.

5. Billing and renewal

Payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account, not by us — we never see or hold your card details.

• The price and the billing period are shown on the purchase screen in your own currency before you confirm. Prices differ by storefront and can change; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• If a free trial is running and you do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the stated price. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, or from Manage subscription inside the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and access continues to the end of it.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Only the step above does.

7. Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves. If something went wrong, write to us anyway — we would rather know.

8. What the alarm can promise

The alarm is scheduled through Apple's system alarm services, and whether it fires depends on iOS, on the device being powered on and functional, on system permissions remaining granted, and on the device not being in a state that suppresses alerts. None of that is under our control. Keep an independent alarm for anything that matters.

Speech recognition is likewise a best-effort match, not a proof of reading. It can fail on background noise, on an unfamiliar accent, or when the on-device recogniser is unavailable — which is why a typing fallback and an escape route always exist. The app is a habit, not a lock.

9. The Focus Shield

The Focus Shield operates through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework and requires your explicit authorisation, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings. Withdrawing it lifts the shield. The shield restricts apps you have selected yourself; it is a chosen friction, not a parental control, and it should not be relied on as a restriction someone else cannot remove.

10. Scripture and translations

The app ships public-domain and freely licensed Bible texts, each carried in the app with its own attribution: the Berean Standard Bible, the World English Bible, and 성경전서 개역한글판. Scripture text is not ours and we claim nothing over it. Everything else in the app — the software, the design, the written copy, the Threads and their framing lines — is ours and is protected by copyright.

Your own highlights, notes and bookmarks belong to you. We claim no ownership of anything you write.

11. Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully. Do not attempt to interfere with it or with the services behind it, do not attempt to defeat the subscription, and do not use it to harass anyone through the feedback channel. Persistent abuse of the feedback channel may end access to it.

12. Accounts

An account is optional. Every feature of the app works without one, and signing in is offered only through Sign in with Apple. If you do create one, you can delete it from inside the app — Settings → Account → Delete account — and doing so removes the identity record we hold. Deleting an account does not cancel a subscription, which is tied to your Apple ID rather than to us.

13. Warranty and liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that an alarm will always fire.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or a missed obligation of any kind arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be limited by agreement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above, in which case they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.

14. Apple

This agreement is between you and us, not between you and Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its contents. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. If the app fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, a failure to conform to a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

15. Changes

These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and a change that materially affects what you are paying for will be announced in the app before it takes effect rather than left to be discovered. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be overridden by this choice — in which case those rights stand.
